Effective incentive compensation starts with a clear understanding of
the company’s objectives for growth (how much) and strategy for
attaining the growth (from which customers or types of freight and by
what market differentiation approach). Company level goals provide
direction for the entire organization and create a benchmark to gauge
success (note: More is not a goal). Developing the strategy for
achieving these goals provides focus to ensure the maximum return on
investment by targeting resources on the right types of customers or
freight for your business. Incentive compensation is, among other
things, a vehicle for communicating your company’s goals and priorities,
so these goals and priorities must be clearly defined and prioritized before you
can develop the mechanics of your incentive plans. This webinar will
take you through the steps and questions we typically ask our clients to
help them define their goals, business strategy, and priorities and
give examples of how these aspects, once defined, help shape the outline
of your new incentive plan.
