If you want to change the Mode of a shipment (example Brokerage to Trucking) the shipment must be open. Once the shipment has been covered the Mode will be read only. This allows for better continuity of data since each mode has specific fields and requirements.
If a mode needs to be changed after being covered, dispatched, etc..., the carrier will need to be removed (uncovered).
